This BLOG will chronicle the design and construction of a proto-freelance HO scale model railroad. I've based this layout on the area that I grew up in. This line is no longer in use but I will try to keep it alive in my own way. The purpose of the layout is to enjoy running trains. PERIOD. It will not be prototypical to any era or road. I just want to run trains that have or could have run on the line through Starkville, MS. plus a few extras.

As I work around the layout with my scenery base, I come to Crawford Grain. Since I can't do the scenery without the structures in place, I decided that it was time to get to building on a grain elevator. I've gotten a good start on the complex at the workbench. The large grain bin is scratch built, the rest of the bins are Walthers kits. Also, the car loading platform is scratch built. I've also got to scratch build some more loading platforms, and some grain chutes for loading cars.
